You wouldn't think that 3-ring binders would be the topic of intense debate within the green blogging community, but it turns out they have become a symbol of a much bigger discussion: the pros and cons of buying new "green" products vs. re-using older products that might not be as green. It's a debate I constantly have with myself, and generally I end up on the side promoting less consumption, less purchasing of new stuff, less less less. Except when I think the re-used option could be harmfu

A personal locator beacon so thin and light you’ll never “forget” to carry it!

Sleek new Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) offers rescue at your fingertips in a thinner, more streamlined case that easily fits in your pocket. It is 35% smaller than the previous generation of PLBs giving you protection without the bulk. Whether in the backcountry or offshore, a PLB provides the ability to call for help with just a flip of a switch and can tell the world you are in trouble when you can’t. When activated, the ResQFix transmits an emergency signal with your unique digitally encoded distress message on 406MHz via COSPAS-SARSAT satellites and 121.5MHz homing frequency to rescue authorities for a minimum of 24 hours. The internal GPS acquires your position with 100 meter accuracy, sending your position along with your digitally encoded distress signal to rescue officials within minutes, cutting down the time to rescue drastically.

Transmits on 406 MHz (COSPAS-SARSAT) with your registered, unique, digitally-coded distress signal, and 121.5 MHz (SAR homing frequency).
Exclusive built-in GPS technology is finely tuned for optimum performance.
100 meter position accuracy when GPS coordinates are present.
Easy to activate by novice user, simply deploy antenna to reveal ON/OFF activation button, hold for 1 second.
PLB has circuitry, battery power/voltage and GPS acquisition test features built in.
Exceeds required 24 hour operating life at -20°C (-4°F), typical operating life: 40 hours @ -20°C (-4°F), 8 hours @ -40°C (-40°F).
Attachment clip mounts to back of PLB to easily clip onto life jacket, belt, backpack, etc.
Flotation pouch attached to prevent loss if dropped in water, easy to remove from pouch, simply pull down on lanyard.
Bungee lanyard allows for PLB to be easily secured preventing loss, comfortable to wear around neck.
ACR beacons are used by the U.S. military, U.S. Coast Guard, NATO and Arctic explorers.
Exceeds RTCM waterproof requirements for Category 1 (buoyant) PLBs, tested to 5 meters.
High impact plastic case designed to withstand exposure to UV rays, oil, sea water and raft packing.
Size: 1.25 x 5.81 x 2.31 in (3.71 x 14.75 x 5.8 cm)
Weight: 10.4 oz. (345g) with flotation pouch

A few weeks ago I was at an outdoor arts festival when someone asked me what the logo on my shirt meant. I explained that I was a firearms instructor, and that the logo stood for “Rummel’s Gun Group”. Before I was done I could see The Fear start. Everybody who shoots knows what I’m talking about. You see it in their eyes, their expression. All of a sudden you’re not a person but a dangerous beast that might suddenly lash out and kill everyone around you. A Deathbeast. There’s two reason

Enchanted Island is a brand new passive RPG game on Facebook, from the makers of the Growing Gifts application. If you like the cool flowers from Growing Gifts, you now have a chance to play a game where you get to be a wizard that grows magic flowers on the island where all the Growing Gifts flowers come from. At this time, the game is still in beta. Even if you are not into Growing Gifts, you may still like this game. It's one of those games that at first might seem kind of boring

I received this e mail earlier this week and passed it on. As I state below, I'm not about starting a debate over Rick Joyner, his beliefs, gifts, lack of, etc... I'm just asking you to prayerfully consider our nation and the direction it's headed. Thank you for praying! Julie’s note: I know many read the name Rick Joyner and draw some kind of emotion, I get that. I ask though, that you don’t follow Rick Joyner, or not, but you follow the Holy Spirit’s leading on this. It’s your life,

There used to be a time when things were simple, doors were left unlocked and sometimes if necessary keys would be used to lock them. Then things got complicated, when really things were supposed to be simplified. The idea behind a proximity card is quite genius actually, as corporate security controls the settings and as an employee you will only have access to the areas you are granted permission. This helps keep the outsiders out, but it also sometimes keeps the wrong people out. Point and case: forgetting the badge inside your office when going to the restroom and inadvertently locking yourself out of your office and also rendering your bathroom privileges.

To keep things simple would be to wear your proximity card in such a way it can be easily accessed to get you through the necessary checkpoints. The swivel reel badge holder does just that, because when it’s not in use it can hang from your pants. It can however easily be pulled out and waved in front of readers, and then returned to its resting position. This is much easier than using a holder that is around your neck, which may require some interesting contorting of your body to place the card near the waist-level readers. Save your body and your pride by getting one at http://www.compucardinc.com/Swivel-Back-Badge-Reels.html

If you're not a Bank of America customer, but visit one of their branches to cash a check, you'll need to be fingerprinted. No, check cashing is not a crime, and the bank is trying to protect itself against fraud, but some people still don't like the idea of giving up their prints for cash. The New Hampshire House of Representatives recently introduced a bill that would ban the practice. The Nashua Telegraph took a look at the origins of and potential problems with the practice . As p

With an identity theft being the fasted growing crime in the US, I am still baffled by the amount of sensitive personal information available through public records. Therefore, I suggest monitoring not only your credit reports, but also your public records on regular basis. Reviewing your publ

I was watching the highlights from the 1997 Stanley Cup finals the other night, and though the Philly Flyers—who handily beat up the beaten-up Rangers in the Eastern final—were swept by Detroit, man, that was a good team. It was old, yeah, and about to break down. But it had Lindros, LeClair, Brind’Amour, Renberg, Desjardins, Niinimaa, Podein, Therien, an old Kjell Samuelsson and a young Vinny Prospal. And it had brought in players like Paul Coffey, Joel Otto, Dale Hawerchuk, Petr Svoboda.

Alderman Mike Shields accused the City Council's Public Safety and Licensing Committee Monday night of treating minority-owned bars and restaurants unfairly. "The way they drill people of color is a problem with me," Shields said in the hallway during the committee meeting. Shields' comments came after the committee asked Gerald Bester, an African-American businessman from Milwaukee, a series of tough questions about his plans to open a new restaurant in Uptown. Alderman Aron Wisneski, chairm
