My computer is HP Pavilion a6642p Desktop PC. I am running Windows 7 RC1. I read a conversation about someone buying a graphics card and power supply (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Hardware&thread.id=2493), but I want something newer that will run all my games on high, and that I wont have to replace. I also think I need a new power supply, so if the card you’re suggesting needs more than the 550 watt one suggested in the thread, please tell me.

There’s no such thing as one you’ll never have to replace (in 10 years, the best computer of today will be someone’s door stop), but the nVidia GTX 275 should run any of today’s games at full (it’s 3 generations newer than the 9600 mentioned in the thread). You’ll probably want at least 4GB RAM (more if you can, and if you can run a 64 bit OS – it won’t be usable in a 32 bit OS).

The power supply can be 700 watts or more – I’d go for 1,000 watts, or even 1,200 watts, to allow for the future. (The computer uses what it needs. A 1,200 watt power supply in a 700 watt computer is just loafing and should last forever.)
