because that’s what were telling us it would help prevent, when they rolled out this Flagship scheme of theirs,it would prevent or combat terrorism acts.

Cannot see it myself. People with serious intentions to do harm will forge any documents that are needed for the purpose. If the criminal were of British origins then they would be entitled to an identity card they could then travel the world go to a place like Yemen become indoctrinated as this young Nigerian man was and then climb aboard any plane going anywhere.

This government do not know how to spend our hard earned taxes quick enough so they came up with the idea of identity cards and to sell it to us they used the threat of terrorism.

Our security forces do a tremendous job and I for one am grateful for their vigilance but I do wonder what their opinion truly is.

  1. rob g Says:

no, because he borded the plane in holland. as soon as he left the country, he would have had no need to show his id had he had one. he used his passport, which is all that would have been requied of him in holland

No- because the bombing attempt had nothing to do with the UK apart from him being educated here
He’d already had been refused re-admission to the UK
The mistakes were made by the dutch and the Americans mostly, who didn’t share around the information they already had on him from his own parents,no less

is it possible that the "bombing" was staged as cover for the passing of executive order 12425?

  4. LouW Says:

well, no … it doesn’t come up on an ID card "this person is carrying a bomb"

    ID cards, pointless.

course not – unless they intend to photograph all your knickers! Would you have to inform them every time you bought a new pair? He was not a British citizen so would not have had the ID card anyway.

No and we all know that criminals are one step ahead of the government and could produce ID cards without any bother at all, so it’s pointless.

No – it’s just a money making scheme which could be abused by anyone with the right inclination.

No, but his presence on a terrorist watch list, and the fact that his father told the US embassy in Nigeria, that his son had become a radical muslim should have.

  10. The Patriot Says:

    No.

As noted, he boarded the plane in Nigeria and was checked again in Holland.

He would not have been allowed here before then, having had his visa to continue studies here being refused.

  11. LadyMoon Says:

No because the terrorist was NOT British and had NO connection with the UK other than that he had studied here. He was Nigerian and he had been refused re-admission to the UK

He would therefore have not been entitled to a British ID Card.

I don’t see how as this man was a Nigerian by birth.
He may have needed an id card to travel around this country but not in Yemen etc.
Also he was on a watch list and was known.
The man’s own father went to the trouble of warning the authorities in the states of his son’s intentions and they still didn’t pick him up.

ID cards are a myth where security is concerned, they are tool used to oppress innocent people by authoritarian regimes that’s why the Nazi’s were so keen on them.
