I got a rope burn on my neck. I had a lanyard on and I was swinging and the lanyard got caught around the chain and when I jumped off the swing it gave me a rope burn before it broke. Everyone keeps asking me how it happened and it’s getting annoying. It also hurts and I look stupid with a big red gash on my neck. How do I get rid of it? I have had it for 4 days. My dad told me to keep it dry so it will peel up. But now it’s itchy. What should I do?
Ummmm no. Why would I try to kill myself. I’m just really unlucky. And Ok I lied. I didn’t jump I kinda fell off. Ya…. I’m clumsy.

The story of how it happened doesn’t matter, and I honestly dont think it happened like that.

Sounds like a failed suicide attempt, and now you want to hide the proof.

But, to answer the question, rope burn is rope burn. It will heal on your neck, the exact same way it would heal anywhere else.

PS.. I really think you should talk to someone if I am right….

There’s not much you can do about it. Your skin needs to heal itself in its own time, but there’s things you can use to help it heal faster and cleaner. Antibiotic creams or gels help so that it won’t get infected to prolong healing time. Zinc creams promote healing as it nourishes your skin. Both of these can easily be found in any pharmacy. In the meantime, all I can suggest is to hide it with turtle necks or a bandanna or something.
