what it means is that our high priced fancy government ($7 trillion at the federal level last year) is so inept at doing even the most basic things that they now need to treat us all like criminals.

when i was a kid, we laughed (as a nation) at the soviet union for thinking this way.

now, when we question it, we are called unpatriotic.

time to sweep the vermin out of washington dc.
References :
Most likely authority will misuse the cards. The Bush administration is threatening the state governments that have completely rejected the Real ID. Come this May, those states' driver liscenses will not be accepted, which all citizens of those states will not be allowed to board planes or enter federally buildings.

If this is how the government is handling states that reject the Real ID, how do people think the government will treat the citizens after the Real ID is implemented?

The government knows that the Real ID will be worthless unless all states jump on board. Also, they can't stop those states' citizens from boarding planes and entering federal buildings. Its completely unconstitutional. The government going to get bold and call all those states' citizens terrorists? Yeah right, talk about a backlash.

Edit:

P.S. Its currently just being used for boarding planes and entering federal buildings. Basically, the Real ID is taking the place of the new passport they already created and are using. After the Real ID is fully implemented, it will apply to employment, buying food, water, anything and everything. I guess they left this little part out.
