flying to oakland california, but the only photo id i have is a future soldier id card for the army?
I leave for california on dec 1st and was wondering, the only photo id i have is a united states army future soldier id card, and my social security card. will that work when they ask for "a photo id"? i also have an expired passport as well, thank you. and if it wont work, what else can i use?
You don’t actually need ID to fly. However, TSA has to be able to verify your identity if you don’t have ID.
Take with you the IDs you list and get to the airport extra early to allow time for them to verify your identity.
When you get to security simply hand them your passport and boarding pass. You may not have any problems at all unless the passport photo really doesn’t look like you.
The below is from: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/acceptable_documents.shtm
"Passengers who do not or cannot present an acceptable ID will have to provide information to the Transportation Security Officer performing Travel Document Checking duties in order to verify their identity. Passengers who are cleared through this process may be subject to additional screening. Passengers whose identity cannot be verified by TSA may not be allowed to go through the checkpoint or onto an airplane."
Note that the info on the TSA website does not actually say an ID can’t be expired.

This is the information page for acceptable IDs and procedures on the TSA website.

Other than what is listed there, you WILL NOT get through security.
Go to the DMV with your birth certificate and social security card and get a state issued ID or drivers license.

What you have is not sufficient to get through security. However, if the TSA can establish your identity, you might be allowed to board the aircraft. Take whatever you have and turn up at the airport three hours before your flight time. There is no guarantee that this will work, and you might not be able to fly back, but this is the best that you can do at such short notice.
Get yourself proper ID from your state’s DMV asap.

You need a valid state issued Driver’s License or ID card. So what you have will not work.

You should definitely bring your expired passport, along with your future soldier ID and social security card with you. At least they could probably verify who you are through those and let you board after additional screening as stated in the second paragraph of that TSA website in one of those other answers.
I think you should at least ok.
